Default How many times can a law office or collection agency

post an item to your credit report? I got into major credit trouble about 7 years ago. I wanted to pay but was unable. All of the original debts have since fallen off my credit report. Collection agency’s are now posting as new accounts. Some collection agency’s have even charged off, then opened the same account back up as a new account. It gets really confusing because I have the same debt posted over and over? One lawyer has bought a debt and has charged about $3500 in fees! (the original account was charged off at $1300 in 2002) I have never had any contact with any of the collection agency’s but they have some how found any family member or friend I have ever had. One even contacted my father (who at that point I had not talked to in 2 years). Is any of this legal? Can an agency charge off a debt then reopen another one as new?And show neq on both every month? Can they just keep posting as new even when the original is over 7 years. And can new agency’s just keep buying the old debt and posting as new?Thanx guys=0) and yeah I guess the 2002 did make it more confusing =0) sorry, but what i was trying to ask was can they add that much in fees? like i said it comes to more than 3000 of what the original debt was!...thats crazzy!

It is legal for a collections agency try to contact you anyway they possible can.It isnt legal however for them to report one account more than once. Im not to sure about the new agency posting as new but you can dispute them with the credit company and who ever owns the account at the time of the dispute will have to legally report it correctly.

trust me this can follow you for decades, all they have to do is sell it off to someone else. Once they sell it off, it will be reapplied to your credit report. It happen to me.Set up a payment plan...good luck
