Default BCR Collection Agency

BCR Collection Agency is calling looking for someone who doesn't live here, what should I do? I have this company (BCR) calling my residence, and sending mail addressed to someone who doesn't live here. The deal was, a few years back, I used a friends cell phone. I paid the bill on time, and then got a new number. I sent the phone back to him. The bills came in his name, but I paid them. When I sent the phone back to him, he stopped paying for the cell phone. Am I liable for the charges? I did not sign a contract of a legal agreement between me and the other party, the bills were just sent to my address. I have asked they not call here or send any more correspondence as that subject does not live here, and never has. What else do I need to do to make this BS stop?

I keep 'returning to sender' the notices they send, but they continue to send them anyways. They also have threatened a lawsuit, if I did not respond in 30 days in the last letter. However, it was not from a law office. I am not particularly concerned, just wondering what else I need to do.

You are liable for nothing. Don't let them scare you. You can send one letter back with an explanation by registered mail with a return receipt and then ignore the rest. They are just trying to get payment from someone, anyone. They can't touch you.
