Default how long for a creditor to sell a repo?

I used my 1997 corolla for collateral on an installment loan.I got behind on my payments and they came and got it last night. I owe $2000, I'm thinking that they'll only get $700-800 at auction. Then they'll have to get a judgement for the rest?So I'm wondering how long it will take them to auction the car?The bottom line is, I'm trying to figure out how much time I have to get the money to pay them, before I have to go to court.

Ok...you need to call them and see when you can clean out your car and also ask them how long you have before they take it to the auction. Most likely they will work something out with you because they wont get 2000.00 for it and they want their money. Just explain your situation...but make it sound good....and they should be able to help you. Another thing you could do is have a friend bid on the car for you and you could get it back like that. Depending on what state you live in...legally, you have 30-45 days to make good before they auction your car off. They also have to put something in writing that they are auctioning it off and telling you in detail what will happen from there. So good luck I hope this helps
