Default Can a debt collector do this?
I had a debt collector send me a letter saying that they have a judgment against me in a nearby court/city. I called the court and they said they have no judgment against me.Can the debt collector send me false info like that? I am disputing the debt.

i wouldnt think so it sounds to me like a threat not an attempt to get you to pay your debt. they are just tryin to rattle you up so you would pay the debt. but i wouldnt let them get away with that

Under the fair debt collection act, you may have a right to sue for harrasment.
