That thing about them paying your bills if they call on Sunday is some weird urban myth. Makes no sense at all.Have you talked to them and worked out a plan? That is the only way to get them to stop, answer the phone and figureout how you are going to repay the money you owe.

Honestly if they are following the rules, then there isnt much you can do (you can tell them not to contact you except for writing, but it wont slow anything down). If they aren't following the rules, then there are penalties including releasing you from the debt.

Believe nothing that you hear and only what you read from a reliable source of legal information. One hears all manner of nonsense from the uninformed.According to the FTC, bill collectors may not call before 8 am or after 9 pm local time (yours, not theirs). They may not contact you at work if they know that it will bother your employer. They can call on Sundays. You can write a letter to the collection agency telling them to stop calling you, but they will still notify you by mail of any actions that they intend to take and they can still take you to court, obtain a judgment, and garnish your wages. The wisest course of action, though, is to talk to the collectors, tell them how much you will pay and when, and then do what you say without fail. As long as there is money coming in, they will not take it to the next level.
