I just recently found this site and have a question regarding PFDs

I have a balance that Capio Partners collection agency has on my credit report, I'd like to take care of if ASAP, mainly because I'll be needing to rent an apartment for the spring semester of school on January 2012.

Should I call Capio Partners first and say that I'd like to settle this balance and will be sending a PFD, or should I just send the PFD letter and wait for a response and then send the MO?

Any help with this is greatly appreciated

How old is the account and do you know who the OC is.

The OC is a diagnostic imaging company that did my xrays. The CA (Capio Partners) reported it on my CR on June of this year (2011). Do you think I can contact the OC and settle with them and they have the CA remove it, or once its in collection I can no longer settle with the OC?

Since that your Account isn't that old, PFD (pay for delete) is one way route to take to try and get an acct deleted. I have seen this work with OCs and CAs. It NEVER hurts to try.

One thing I can tell you for sure, is that the older the acct is the more likely this will work. If it's out of SOL, even better, because they KNOW that they can no longer legally collect on the date (i.e. take you to court/sue you for the debt). But I would contact both and see which one would work with you; then follow up with a PFD letter. You can get a great PFD letter from first page of this site; but honestly if you really want it deleted and it's not a large amount just offer to pay it off in full for exchange that they delete it.

Good Luck

Thanks for the reply.

So the OC can get the CA to take it of my CR if I pay them? I'd hate to pay the OC and then the CA claim that the debt is still open and end up having to pay twice.

What you would need to do is contact the OC and let them know that you want to do a PFD and follow up with the letter from the first page of this and enclude the notes. then follow up on the CR later. Just give them time, about two months after the payment.

hi, i'm new here and i was wanting to do some PDF's on some of my negative accounts. they are all past the statute of limitations. i am wanting to get them off my CR though. i live in OK most of the debts occurred in AR and the CAs are in various states so i don't know all the laws or which laws would be applicable. my biggest fear is having these accounts updated and making them appear more recent than they are. am i risking this by trying to negotiate with them?

What you would need to do is contact the CA that on the CR and let them know that you want to do a PFD; Then ask them to follow up with the letter to you if they agree. Then reply to them with a PFD Letter from the first page of this and enclude the notes. Just give them time, about two months after the payment.

Anyone know if this will work in Iowa? I have an account that is 3 or 4 years old and I still owe a little money on it and I was going to pay it off this week and I was thinking about adding this letter to my last payment.

I was going to make the letter so,.. if the CA cashes the check, then they will agree to remove the account from my credit history..

So I'm confused. I have a CA reporting that I owe them $53.00 dollars. If I send them a cashier's check for the amount stated above and send a letter like one of the two posted on this page, since the debt is from WI, they can cash the check and then come after me for the "full balance". I guess the wording to me doesn't make sense. If they are cashing a "full payment" check, then what remainder of the balance would they be coming after me for? If I am misunderstanding please let me know. These letters seem legitimate and I would like to try it to get this small debt deleted, however I don't want to send them a check they can cash and then still come after me. Please clarify. Thanks!
