Default oops i screwed up!

I guess I made a mistake... being a rookie at this.

I sent the validation/verification letter to a CA. I did not do the 1-2 Punch. I thought that the CA had 30 days to respond or I could then forward the documentation to the CRA's and ask for deletion. I guess that's not the case. I guess I just learned that if the CA does not respond to my CMRRR letter within 30 days it doesn't auto qualify the deletion (presuming I ask the CRA to delete with my evidence).

So if the CA does nothing with my CMRRR in 30 days I need to do a DV2 and and 1-2 Punch to get that 30 day clock working for me.

Is that right?

Actually, jj....it's the other way around. You DV the CA first and then as soon as you know they've rec'd your letter, you immediately send your dispute off to the CRAs.

So, coldweatherMN......how long ago did the CA receive your DV?

The CA received their CMRRR letter on April 6. Today is May 2.

Should I:
1) Do a DV2 around May 10 followed by a validation to the CRA when the DV2 is RR?

2) Skip the DV2 and just validate with the CRA now?

3) GW the CA now? --It's a $250 utility bill. I know what it's for - I never returned the DSL modem when I left that phone company. It's about 4 years old. I've never heard from them but they report it as a CO monthy to EX.

I would just wait out the full 30 days and then send the CA a DV2 and do a 1 2 punch.

Another thing you might consider is (depending on how old the debt is - and if you are willing to pay it off) contacting the phone company and asking if they will take payment from you and recall the debt from the CA. If the phone company is in MN, restrictive endorsements hold up there........so you could always put an RE on the check to them stating that payment is ONLY for them to deposit and that way they can't transfer the funds to the CA.
If you pay the OC, then the CA no longer has the right to report the debt because it is no longer theirs.......making it MUCH easier to get it deleted from your CR.

Hope that made sense.........let me know if you have any questions.

Trish,
Now if you have paid the OC first and you still have the CA on your Report, How would you go about deleting it. I have disputed it 3 times online... learning curve..... and came back validated.....

do the 1-2 punch? or any other ideas?

Question What about acct #s and ss#

Trish,

I like your short validation letter...Should we be listing account # and our ss# as seen on the CR to the CA receiving the validation letter?

Default 1 2 punch for paid accounts?

I have negative information on my report but at this time, all of my accounts are paid off or current. However, my credit score is very low and I am seeking to improve it. Can I still do the 1-2 punch approach on accounts that have been paid? Wasn't my payment an acceptance that the debt was mine? I've been reading online for a week now and I'm even more confused than when I started. Any help is appreciated.
