Default applying for credit

Applying for one new credit card shouldnt affect your credit score, no. Applying for multiple credit cards in a short amount of time though could drop your score but its fractions on the points per inquiry.

Retail accounts are usually harder to get than a visa or master card. If youre unsure about how your credit looks check it out on annualcreditreport.com.

If you need help reviewing your credit report we have certified credit counselors here to help you review it with you free of charge.

Good luck and Happy New Year

Michael

Default New Here

Okay, I am not sure if I am doing this right or not. First I want to say how happy I am to have found this site. I have learned a bunch already by reading here. My question is this, I disputed a couple of items on my Equifax report. 1 was taken off, the other 2 were "verified" After thinking more about it, I am sure that one of the remaining bills is legitimate, it looks like from reading here that my next step is to send a letter to the Collection Agency requesting they send me validation of the one I am still in question of. I found the sample form letters and plan on requesting validation. Does this sound like the course of action I should take? Right now I have no credit at all showing on my CR, I want to establish some form of credit so that I can start rebuilding. I still don't know what my credit score is yet. I plan on purchasing that and from what I have read here so far, is it better to just purchase each one individually at first or go for one of the agencies that give you all 3? Thanks.

If I understand the Guide correctly, the next step is to dispute directly with the OC &/or OC. Is there any point to try to dispute anything further with the CRA's. Especially in a situation where one CRA deleted a derogatory and another claims it is valid.

Yes, next step is to go directly to the FOI.
You can continue to dispute.. just beware that sometimes if you dispute with the CRAs too much, they just start answering you with "previously investigated" or "we have already verified this information and find your dispute frivolous"
Usually that's when you just keep hammering at the disputes month after month disputing the exact same thing. So... you might just want to either dispute it every once in a while (every other month or so) or dispute it for a completely different reason than what you did the first time.
