Bankruptcy Question

Hi all,

First of all thanks so much for this wonderful forum which is full of the bestest informations.

I'm from massachusetts and here is my situation. I would greatly appreciate for your kind advise/suggestions and time. I had filed bankruptcy on 03/2005 and it was discharged on 07/2005.

I used free report option from the Annualreport and I see the informations on Experian. In the Report Summary it says I have 2 potential negative items and 8 accounts in good standings. I don't see any of those accounts which were dischraged through the bk. Does it mean those got removed?

Now in the 2 potential negative items shows the following:

1: US BKPT CT MA BOSTON
Status: Chapter 7 bankruptcy discharged.
Status Details: This item is scheduled to continue on record until Mar 2015.
Date Filed: 03/2005
Date Resolved: 07/2005

2: TOYOTA MOTOR CREDIT
Account History: Debt included in Chapter 7 Bankruptcy on July 05, 2005

I disputed this online because this was paid in full in 2005 and in the reason i said: This can be verified with toyota financial and the account balance is zero.

Now my credit score is around 684 as per the mortgage lady. But i guess this bk status is the killer. What should I do? I should dispute BK? or should I use lexington law firm or what are my options? As per Experian report i see the above 2 negative points. Hopefully they will remove toyota one and then i'll have only one which is bk.

You will want any accounts mentioning bankruptcy to be removed, not updated.

You can dispute them yourself or you can have Lexington Law do it. If you do it yourself, make sure you are disputing them correctly and asking for full removal.

Hi Chane,

Thanks for the reply and advise. When I checked the credit report i don't see any account under bankruptcy at all. All i see 2 potential negative as i have mentioned above and 8 good one. I've used the free credit report from the AnnualReport and i've disputed online one negative item as i have mentioned above.

please advise.

We highly recommend not disputing online. So, the account was not actually included in the bk? If not, you definitely want it updated. If it was included, you want it removed.

Hi Chane,

Well I found this forum after disputing the account. After reading this forum, now i got a lot of good informations.

The account(TOYOTA MOTOR CREDIT) i have disputed was paid in full, it was never included in the bk.

Few years back when i had checked my free report it had all the accounts included in BK but now after 5 years when i checked my free credit report those accounts are not there anymore. Does it mean they got removed?

Have you checked all 3 credit reports? It may be showing up on one and not the others.

No, I thought free credit report from AnnualReport is from all 3 CRA. Do you suggest any secure site i can use to get credit report from all 3 CRA.

You can get all 3 credit reports from Annual Credit Report. You just have to do it separately. Request them one at a time.
