I would start with a small loan from your bank. Don't spend the money, but use it to pay the loan back monthly. Make sure that you always pay at least 5 days before the payment is due, and pay the loan off before the term is up. This way you will have something positive reporting on your credit every month.

Brie2200 has good advice, you could also try getting a secured credit card as they are mainly for establishing or rebuilding credit.

Orchard Bank secured card. Go to creditcards.com and click on the "bad credit" link.

Before you do make sure they report some secured cards don't they treat them like debit cards.

Orchard definitely reports to all 3........my dh and I both have this card.
Depending on your scores, you may want to try some dept store cards too.

Target, Walmart and Macy's are fairly easy.
Chevron has a rebuilder card for poor credit.

Crown jewelers is a GREAT starter CC. They will approve anyone with a job and valid phone #. No credit check and they usually give you a $1500 limit BUT you have to buy something for them to report it. (I just bought a cheap pair of earings and paid it off fast)

You may also want to check local credit unions and try getting a secured loan.
