Default Have to declare bankruptcy, long story. How long...

...roughly after I've filled out the forms wil it take??? UK Yes I really have to do this, I was advised to do so by A Debt Advisory Charity as my basic outgoings exceed my income! It's a scary prospect but will be a relief to get out from under this debt as I will never be able to pay it off. Xmas is going to be horrid for the kids this year though!

Are you sure you need to do this? I am assuming that you have tried every other avenue. Don't go bankrupt for less than £50 as its not worth it. Anyway, it doesn't take long at all - painless stuff. Good luck. x

It will all happen within 4 weeks, filing for bankruptcy, seeing a judge privately, then having your order. You will be free of it in 1 year, providing you do as the court instruct you/

Basically it starts almost as soon as the forms you hand to the court are accepted by the receiver.DON'T go on a spending spree. Any debts you acquire whilst in the process of bankruptcy (that includes the period during which you were considering and filing in forms etc) can be and are often considered fraudulent, and you could be pushed into a criminal conviction if the receiver considers it deliberate.Make sure you list ALL your debts on the forms otherwise they will still be there when you're discharged.
