Default Bankruptcy experts: will this affect my credit?

I filed bankruptcy in 2005. My car loan was included in the bankruptcy. The loan was not reaffirmed, but I kept the car and continued to make monthly payments. The car company has made me pay through their "bankruptcy department" and won't send me bills or provide me online access to my account. If I let this car go back, will it be counted as a repo, or is it part of the bankruptcy? My lawyer at the time said that it would be part of the bankruptcy and the car company couldn't count it on my credit as a repo if I ever lost the car. But he wasn't that good of a lawyer. My credit is really really poor, so would a repo on my record really hurt me at this point?

Check your credit at FreeCreditReport.com first. This site is NOT one of the ones that make you buy some credit monitoring that most people do not need. If your state is one that requires a free report yearly to be given to you, that site will tell you and not charge you. Most states requires this nowadays. Look on the report to see who is holding your auto loan, if the loan is not listed then it is probably part of your bankruptcy and would only add to the amount defaulted and not be reported as a second delinquency. Secondly, go to your State's website and look up credit/bankruptcy help. There might be a State dept. phone number that will help you out. Good luck.

It doesn't really matter at this point. After a BK, your credit is very damaged. The good news is that you can fix it. I filed BK 2 years ago and I have already repaired mine. I learned everything I could about credit repair. I studied it for hours. I wasn't going to listen to people who told me I'd have bad credit for 10 years.I got my BK removed from 2 of the 3 credit bureaus. I also got about 40 accounts removed from each credit bureau.Well, I bought a brand new 2007 Nissan Sentra and I have 3-4 great credit cards. I know I can get pretty much any loan that I want. I'm very careful and smart with my credit now and it just keeps getting higher. Learn credit repair. (It's free and it will make you a smarter consumer. You have many rights under federal law.)
