Default working for state during bankruptcy?

My husband wants to apply for a job as a Ranger 1 for the state. The thing is we filed bankruptcy 2 years ago and we heard you can't work for the goverment/state while in bankrupcty. Is this true? If so, Why?

I don't know what state you live in; but, my daughter and her husband filed for bankruptcy nine years ago in Tennessee, moved to another state, where she received a Bachelor's degree in Education and teacher certification by that state. She taught last school year, and was re-employed as a teacher for the coming school year. I do know that in the state where I live, anyone who is required to have any kind of professional license, even if it's a beautician's license, will not be issued a new license if state taxes are owed. An individual must make arrangements to make payments on their tax obligation before their license is renewed. I suggest your husband apply for the job, truthfully answer all questions on the application, and go forth.

I know someone who filed Chapter 13 while working for the state of Texas, and she hasn't had any problems. If the job required a security clearance you could have a problem, but otherwise you should be fine.
