I strongly recommend calling around for an attorney or legal aid of some kind. The paperwork is complicated and you don't want to mess this up..also getting bankruptcy is not as easy as it use to be which is why costs have gone up.

You also need to go to credit counseling and debtor education classes and get a certificate.Moreover, your friend needs to go over all of his/her property and exemptions with someone who is licensed to practice law, before filing, to make sure that every possible exemption is accounted for and to make sure that Chapter 7 is the right way to go. Also the schedules in the petition have to be accurate.Finally, if the court finds the Chapter 7 was not filed in good faith, your friend could be barred from filing another bankruptcy for some time.Do you really want to see your friend go through this abuse? No. Your friend needs a professional bankruptcy attorney.
