Hold off creditors without filing bankruptcy?

Can I hold some creditors off without filing for bankruptcy?

Thanks to a divorce, I am stranded between my credit cards, paying lawyers and my other bills. I am absolutely trying to avoid filing for bankruptcy and I was wondering if could do the following:

Payoff some of the debt in a couple of years while stopping the payments on the other debt. I would start paying the debt on hold 2 years later when the debt above is paid off. Thanks for your answers.

You really need to talk to each creditor. Explain your circumstances and your desire to honor your debt. They can work with you to work out a repayment plan. If they work with you, you must take the responsibility to honor the agreement and make timely payments.Good luck.
