Auto Finance?

In 2000 I purchased a car from a dealership. My credit score was 705. The dealership convinced me to finance through a 3rd party company that I never heard of.They charged me an interest rate of 16.9%!The length was 7 years!The Dealership received a kick-back from the finance co.Five year (60 months) later I have never missed a payment.I called finacne co. to change my rate because I lost my job.They laughed at me and said pay or we take your car away.Not fair?I have not made a payment in 9 months.They tried to repo but I keep the car in storage.Not fair?The dealership & finance co. took advantage of me.I realize I should have shopped for a better rate.Not fair?Can dealerships get away with this?

Unless you get a lawyer yes they can, and they will. And lock you up for hiding stolen property while they are at it. (Its whomever the loan is thru's car till your done paying) However w/ your decent credit and payment history, they shouldve worked something out . . . financing cars is such a bad idea anymore, theyve all turned into vicious loan sharks that jack interest and extend payments (make sure what you pay adds up w/ how long they give you) and just rip people off.Luckily most lawyers in this field are the "we dont get $$ til you do type"/ Good Luck!
