you need to contact expirian or another credit reporting agency and make a dispute. I disputed a credit claim from a doctor who did not send off a bill for several months, and once he did, we had already moved. We assumed the bill was covered by insurance after paying our copay at the drs office, but there was a $90 bill for lab work that was not covered. My credit got screwed much in the same way that your husbunds did. I made a dispute and told them the whole story and about 2 months later they took the claims off my report and my credit went back to normal. I was at 600 or something and it went up to around 680 afterward. A good way to raise credit after you get it straightened out is to lease a BMW. BMW financial inflates your credit score quickly. 3 years later and I am now at 730.
