Hey, I realize that it has been quite some time since you posted this. Do you mind answering a question for me? Originally, I had a guy working on my credit and he sent letters to the CA and they responded by sending debt verification in the mail which is a record of my visit. I plan to pay the original creditor ASAP but want to use the HIPAA process since it is my best shot at getting the items removed. Do I need to send another DV letter to the collection agency with the purple writing again or can i use the information the CA has already provided? Should I proceed with paying the OC now then filing a HIPAA complaint or start the process over again.
The letter from "whychat" seems a little confrontational...do I have to word it exactly like that? Wouldn't a letter like that alert the CA that I am planning to use my rights under HIPAA?
