I have been right where you are. From the situation I get the feeling you are quite a social person. I lived at home and BLEW my checks too mainly cause i didn't have any responsibilities. I'm only a few years older and it took me a while to gain the discipline to do this but this is what i did:
1. Move out of your parents house or pay a decent about for rent. Give your parents 300-500 for the room, food, and electricity you use.
2. Pay your bills the DAY you get paid. Direct deposit is a wonderful thing. Even have your bank send out the payments for you. I dont know a single bank that doesnt offer the service.
3. Budget out the money you have left to play with per week and just take it out as cash.
4. Erase you credit card debt. Later it'll come back on you if you want to buy a house. I am using the snowball method for credit card payoffs.
But yep, you just need the will power to do it. You're living at home and I know for a fact that budgeting is the last thing on your mind when you have no bills to pay. I could have a really nice down payment on a house by now if I hadn't wasted my money just like you are.
