if you have reported the erroneous judgment and it came back verified then ask for a FULL procedural report on how they verified it.
What happened is a Lexis Nexis monkey got the info from the courthouse when it was filed (case number etc) and reported it. Then sold it to the CRAs as a "judgment" against you. No case was ever followed up.
There is not a court in this country that reports this to the CRAs and everyone knows this and I cannot believe that there is no case files on this.
The fact is that if this judgment prevented you from getting a mortgage and the judgment is clearly falsely reported but they verified it as correct, I would get a lawyer on it because you would win and then you can establish a case for the rest of us.
I think it has been done but the CRA always settles to no precedence can be set. I would be one who would not settle unless it was for the amount I needed for the house if it were me. Settlements probably come with a "hush" agreement of some kind I would assume.
