send a follow up letter to the CA (see below I included a copy of the one I used). If they still do not send any validation after the second letter, check out what scorepro posted earlier and follwo those steps to file a complaint against them and then negotiate to have them remove the listing for not filing a legal suit against them. I am in the process of filing a complaint now with the Office of Financial Regulation in my state...
Good luck!!

RE: Account #
Dear Sir /Madam,
I sent you a request to validate a debt reported by your agency on my credit report (account # ) on _____(date)_____.
According to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), I have a right to request a validation of the debt and you are obligated to provide me with the relevant documentation. I have received no reply from you except for the confirmation of receipt of my letter on _____(date)_____ ( A copy of the signed confirmation of receipt is included).
You are now in violation of the FDCPA and subject to a fine of up to $1,000.00, which I may collect by filing a claim. I intend to continue with this suit in case I receive no further communication from you within 10 business from the date on the confirmation of receipt for this letter.
This may result in a black mark on your standing and has the possibility of landing you in a serious legal dilemma with the FTC and possibly other state or federal agencies.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS.
Thank you,
[Your Name]
