What can I do to get this credit error off of my Equifax credit report?
Ok, so a little long story. I have a creditor that put a collection account on my credit report that was found to be in error. They sent me the letter stating that they have requested it to be deleted from all the credit bureaus, and they also have requested it to be deleted 3 times electronically, the first time being July of 2008. It has been removed from all the reports except Equifax. I called Equifax and they said that they do not see the electronic delete, all they see is them verifying that all the info is correct. I have literally called the creditor and Equifax 20 times each and each of them are saying it is the other parties responsibility to correct. I have asked the creditor to call Equifax and they said it is against their policy and they have done everything they were supposed to asking it to be deleted electronically 3 times. I have asked Equifax to call them to verify it being deleted, but all they say is that they only do it electronically. I have manually sent in diputes with that letter stating they want it deleted about 6 times, as well as do phone disputes. Something has got to give. At this point I am about to pull my hair out. WHAT IN THE WORLD CAN I DO AS LETTING IT STAY THERE IS UNFAIR AND BRINGING MY CREDIT SCORE DOWN??????
I want to contact a CEO of Equifax of something. The collection was for 2 cable boxes that Comcast thought I had when it was actually with the tech and in the warehouse. By the time I told them this and they verified it, it was already put on my credit report. Now it needs to be removed and it seems like Equifax won't do anything and neither will the creditor. So do I just let this sit for 7 years? PLEASE HELP! I know that I have rights!!!
