jastokes02 is on a distinguished road
Default Here’s my progress over the past year….

I pulled mine and my husbands credit in March of 2008 (after hiding from it for years lol). My score was 518 and my husbands 508! (don’t poke fun, lol, it was bad, we have had hard times. lol)
(before I knew of this site or anything like it.. Lol) I took it upon myself to sit in front of the computer day and night looking for ways to dig outta this crap. We want to buy a house eventually and knew there was no way when we couldn’t even get a car without a cosigner and huge down payment. (thats what we had to do) It was not a huge amount of debt. About $8000 total between us both. Just TONS of small collection accounts.
So, I started disputing stuff online with the credit bureaus, like weird addresses and jobs etc that I knew never existed. Found a lot of stuff still reporting from when I went bankrupt back in 2002. So I would call them and tell them that they were included blah blah… magically things started to go away. And I didn’t even know what I was doing! Lol.
Then was a hospital bill that someone had billed to my husband that we didn’t know of and the lady told me what kind of letter to write them to get it gone .. Researched that and found the verification letters. Wha lah… all new doors opened and it was on!
So I wrote out a gazillion verification letters and sent them off, ppl signed for them… some I got replies to saying it will be removed, some just came off the credit reports without an answer back to me. Some just ignored it altogether. It was awesome.
A few I settled out to delete off the file. (didnt know you could do that, i thought i was being smart- like "if i pay you such and such, will you take it off my file?" lol)
In about 4 months I had a ZERO score- (yes zero) lol. I don’t work and didn’t have any bills in my name reporting for the past 4 years. I had NOTHING on my report- it was crazy! My husbands went from a 508 to a 670. It was cool. (he has our Chrysler payment and a couple small credit cards reporting)
I obtained me one of those “you send us 200 bucks and we’ll give you a credit card with a $10 limit” cards. So I did that and pay it on time- every time.
My husband now has a few “late pays” and a card that we couldn’t pay that went to collections but we are settling it out to delete. (things happened and we got behind)
So I think I done purdy well. His score now is a 618 (as of June) but im working at it again to get it all back together.
I didn’t really bother with disputing with the cra’s after a while because of course all the bills will come back verified no change (or least in our cases) I just sent the copies of the letters when the ca’s didn’t respond. Then they BY law had to delete it or change it.
So I was learning what to do as I went along thru this process last year. And now im back at it again. Its going to be harder tho this time because everything is sooo recent. So im doing settlements for delete. Or going to try to at least lol.
Good luck to you guys- it does work, you just have to stick with it. Nothings better than getting your copy of your file and seeing things GONE!
