I woke up this morning and checked my email like usual. The first one I read was an email from Visa confirming my Secured by Visa password change. I was fresh out of bed so I was still kinda sleeping. I've gotten that email before because I've changed my password before, because I always forget it (because I use roboform and for some reason roboform doesn't work with Secured by Visa).
So, at first I didn't really think much of it...until I realized that I hadn't made a purchase online for weeks. No big deal, it's probably just an email that got caught up in the servers from a few weeks ago and is just getting to me now, right?
Well, I'll just go ahead and check my account online to see if anything strange appears. Sure enough, there is a charge for $530.55 from thy.com - a site I've never heard of. So, I check out the site and it's Turkish Airlines! Someone purchased an airline ticket using my credit card!
That woke me up fast. I called the bank immediately and told them about it. They shut down the card and are sending me a new one. I also had to fill out a form to dispute the transaction and fax it in.
I asked her if I should file a police report. She was like "You can, but most people don't." She made it sound like a pretty regular occurrence. I asked her how someone could have possibly gotten my credit card number (I still had the card on me.) She said she had no idea, there are many ways.
So, that kinda freaked me out. I have no idea how they got it, but I hope they enjoy their flight...bast

ards.
