Once the bill hit the collection agency, I immediately paid it, thinking a paid collection was better than an unpaid collection. Had I been privy to the info on this site, I could have written a pay to delete letter, but its too late now.

I really knew nothing until the last couple weeks as far as correctly disputing and validating. I did dispute it through the agencies with a half arse letter I made up just hoping they would not get any info back from the creditor and have to delete it. No such luck, it was verified as paid. I also called Ann Arbor Credit Bureau and asked if I could get it off as it was an ex's neglect that led to the problem. Their answer was that my paying was admitting to responsibility. I probably did more damage than good. Now I see that I have a good chance at getting the ding off my report and am willing to put in the time and effort. Can you help??? What's my next step?? I see mis spelled variations on my name, can that hurt?

Thanks in advance and looking forward towards getting this cleared up

One thing to remember they can do anything they want I would dispute it as not mine.just because you were married to her make it your's.I mean you could say you told your ex,out of the goodness of your heart that you would pay it for her.Remember don't trust anything a ca say's.And don't trust the cra's,to do anything to help you.
