This sounds like a run around. Under the FCRA don't CRAs have to verify all data...including hard hits?

This seems to be in debate. EQ is more liberal when it comes to deleting inquiries, but EX and TU aren't really. It seems that TU and EX think that by law, hard inquiries must be reported regardless of error, but people have reported deleting EX hard hits that were initiated during a time when they had a FA on their credit reports. If you try to dispute hard hits on EX report online, you may notice that the system won't let you.

Disputing hard hits directly with the CRAs can sometimes cause the CAs to place a FA on your reports as well. This can get complicated.

After disputing hard hits with the CRAs, they may advise you to try this. Mind you, deleting hard hits may not improve your score very much. Taking care of things like collections, late pays, public records etc is more important.
